CanSinoBIO's Menhycia® Application Accepted by China's NMPA for Expanded Use in Population Aged 3 Months to 17 Years

2026.07.19

July 19, 2026 – CanSino Biologics Inc. ("CanSinoBIO" or the "Company", HKEX: 06185, SSE: 688185) today announced that the National Medical Products Administration of China ("NMPA") has accepted the supplemental application for Menhycia® (Group ACYW135 Meningococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine, CRM197 Carrier, "MCV4") to expand its approved indication to the population aged 3 months to 17 years.

Meningococcal disease is a severe infectious disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis, characterized by rapid onset, rapid progression, and high mortality1. It may lead to serious complications, including meningitis and septicemia, posing a significant threat to public health. Serogroups A, C, Y, and W135 are among the major causes of invasive meningococcal disease2. Vaccination remains one of the most effective public health measures for preventing meningococcal infections and their related diseases3.

Meningococcal disease exhibits clear seasonal patterns, with higher incidence during winter and spring, and cases have been reported across all age groups4. Studies in China have shown that children aged 0–4 years and adolescents aged 10–19 years are at increased risk of meningococcal disease. Ensuring appropriate vaccination coverage among children and adolescents is therefore important to reduce the burden of meningococcal disease5.If approved, the expanded indication would enable Menhycia® to protect individuals aged 3 months to 17 years old, offering broader disease prevention options across childhood and adolescence.

Menhycia® is the first quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine approved in China for the prevention of meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. Since its approval in 2021, the vaccine has continued to expand its indicated population, with its approved age indication extended to children aged 3 months to 6 years old (83 months) in February 2026. Since its launch, Menhycia® has become an important option for meningococcal disease prevention in China.

While strengthening its domestic product portfolio, CanSinoBIO is also accelerating the global commercialization of its vaccine products. In December 2024, Menhycia® received marketing authorization from Indonesia's Food and Drug Authority (BPOM). In June 2026, the vaccine was granted marketing authorization by Argentina's National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices (ANMAT), marking another important milestone in the Company's international expansion.

Looking ahead, CanSinoBIO remains committed to advancing its full life-course immunization strategy and providing innovative, high-quality and affordable vaccines to meet evolving public health needs.
